Blood Type Diet

The Natural Health Food store I visit has an amazing herbalist and natural health person there. I do not remember her name just her amazing gift of compassion, listening, and willingness to share information and give explanation.

I was skeptical about supplements and vitamins. I was. The more these things she suggest work and relieve my symptoms the better I feel. I am listening to her. In the back of my mind, I am hesitant but it's all starting to sink in. Two times ago when I was in there she told me of the Blood Type Diet. "You need to find out what your blood type is." It has now been two months, I still don't know my blood type. I think I'll go give blood this weekend, after all the Red Cross needs more blood over the weekend. I am thinking I am an "O" type. One brother is an "A-type" and my sister is an "O-type".

While many western medical professionals do not necesarily embrace this type of thinking because it "doesn't support enough scientific evidence." Sometimes you have to go with what is working for you based on science or not. Everything I learned in a college level bio-anthropology course, this diet makes some sense. Certain blood types are at higher risks for diseases than others. Nothing else is working, why not try it.

"O's" are not suppose to eat wheat products. This will be difficult for me. While I have not been big on eating bread for some time, baked goods are one of my favorite items to make at the holidays. Everything from cookies and home-made breakfast rolls. This diet will be a test not only for my body, but for my family heritage for cooking.

Over the course of the next two weeks I intend to find out my blood type and begin to purge my kitchen of all things gluten. I love pasta. I love Heavenly Hash Ice Cream. Dairy is also a no-no. Good-bye sugar. Alas, super dark chocolate is still on the list! woohoo.

I'll keep you posted on what happens.
